Hi! I’m kelsey, and I’m a writer.

I’m also a developmental editor and a book coach. For the last four years, I’ve been coaching writers of all levels, helping them go from idea to execution and everything in-between.

You could say I’m something of a jane-of-all-trades. My insatiable curiosity drives me (and the people I coach) forward towards their dreams. When a path is closed, I find a way to open it. Case in point: rather than stick to my Freshman choice of English as a major, I created my own degree in Business Communications: incorporating courses from additional disciplines like Linguistics, Rhetoric, and Business Administration, to provide a more comprehensive education for myself.

Before I began formally coaching, I spent almost a decade and a half in the marketing space, with a heavy emphasis on writing throughout. But, I’ve also pursued opportunities that break the “traditional” career mold: I’ve been published in a nationally distributed running magazine when I lived in Colorado, I’m a classically trained Pastry Chef who worked at a James Beard award-winning establishment in DC, and I’ve worked in NASCAR all across the country.

On the surface, these may not seem directly related. But each of these experiences informs my unique approach to coaching. I learned effective leadership from managing a kitchen of six pastry cooks. I learned how to easily coordinate multi-day events with hundreds of moving pieces from long weekends at NASCAR tracks.

With my writers, I dig into the nitty-gritty at a granular level, getting to the core of their story. I provide a custom roadmap with straightforward, actionable steps to help them go from idea to finished manuscript. Then, I help them learn to efficiently and effectively market themselves and their work.

That’s what I love, it’s how I’ve helped hundreds of writers before, and it’s why I know I can help you.

so, if you…

…have an idea for a novel but don’t know how to start.

…have tried to outline your story but the scenes don’t seem to connect.

…have begun drafting your book only to end up stuck in the messy middle.

…are trying to learn about marketing but have no idea where to begin.

I’ve got you. Let’s do this!

A little more about me…

When I'm not coaching, you can find me tucked away in a local coffee shop drafting my first full-length fiction novel, an iced coffee by my side — no matter the weather. A lifelong athlete, I’m a runner and a rower.

I’m also an adventurous traveler (and eater) and I love to explore new places — in addition to finding new favorites in my own city as well. I live in Philadelphia, where I was born and raised, with my adorable orange rescue cat, Riley.

I’m also…
